Nissan's e-POWER hybrid system has reached the U.S., and it starts in the company's best-selling SUV. Nissan fully revealed the 2027 Rogue Hybrid in Nashville on Sept. 21. One well-equipped version, the all-wheel-drive SR with the SR Technology Package, reaches dealers this fall at $41,490. The SV, SR and Platinum follow in early 2027, with the SV starting at $35,490 before a $1,575 destination charge.
The Rogue has sold nearly 4 million units over three generations, according to Nissan, so the stakes are high. The company previewed the hybrid at its vision event in April; this is the full U.S. reveal, with pricing and specifications.
How e-POWER works
Nissan says the Rogue Hybrid is the only hybrid in its class that drives its wheels purely with electric motors. A 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder (148 hp) works only as a generator, and electric motors do all of the driving. A 202-hp front motor and a 134-hp rear motor give 225 hp combined, and dual-motor all-wheel drive is standard. The engine shuts off when the 1.67-kWh lithium-ion battery has enough charge, and there is no transmission to shift. Owners never plug in.
Nissan's internal testing puts fuel economy at up to 41 mpg city, 36 highway and 38 combined. Those are company estimates, not EPA ratings. The Rogue Hybrid also gets e-Pedal one-pedal driving and a Smooth Stop feature that eases brake pressure at the end of a stop. Towing capacity is 1,500 pounds. Nissan says it has sold nearly 2 million e-POWER vehicles in 68 countries since 2016, and it tuned this version for North American roads.

Screens, Gemini and a smarter ProPILOT
A 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard, along with a 15-watt Qi2 magnetic phone charger. A 14.3-inch screen with Google built-in, including Google Maps, Google Play and the Gemini assistant, is optional on the SR and standard on the Platinum. Physical climate controls stay, and climate-controlled seats are available in a Rogue for the first time.
ProPILOT Assist gets a new front radar and a camera with a 20 percent wider field of view. Nissan says adaptive cruise now detects slowing or stopped vehicles 33 percent sooner than in the 2026 Rogue. The SR Technology Package and Platinum add Auto Lane Change, which works on divided highways between 37 and 85 mph, and Hands-off Traffic Jam Support for low-speed congestion.
“Hybrids are increasingly becoming the powertrain of choice for U.S. customers, and we believe that trend will only accelerate,” said Christian Meunier, chairman, Nissan Americas.
What buyers should know
The Rogue Hybrid is 183.1 inches long and holds 31.1 cubic feet of cargo behind the rear seat, or 65.9 with it folded. The rear doors open to nearly 90 degrees, and five rear LATCH anchors allow a car seat in the center position. It will be assembled at Nissan Motor Kyushu in Japan. Anyone shopping this fall gets one choice, the $41,490 SR with the SR Technology Package. Buyers who want the $35,490 SV, or official EPA numbers, will have to wait until early 2027.
