Kia is barely moving the price of its midsize Sorento. The 2027 gas-powered Sorento starts at $32,590 for the LX, $200 more than the 2026 LX, and every other gas trim rises by the same $200, according to pricing Kia America released Oct. 1. The $1,495 destination charge is unchanged, so the least expensive 2027 Sorento lists at $34,085 delivered.
The SUV itself carries over. Kia says changes are minimal for 2027 and that the most notable one is a paint color: Jade Black Green, which Kia says has done well on the new Telluride, replaces Jungle Green.

Two engines, same as before
Kia's 2027 specification sheet lists two gas engines. The LX and S use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder rated at 186 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque, which Kia estimates at 26 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 25 mpg with all-wheel drive. The EX, SX and SX-Prestige models on that sheet use a turbocharged 2.5-liter with 274 hp and 311 lb-ft, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and estimated at 23 mpg combined. The $47,990 X-Pro SX-Prestige tops the gas range.
With every trim moving by the same amount, the step-up costs inside the lineup stay where they were. The jump from the S AWD to the turbocharged EX AWD, for example, is still $2,700.
Hybrid and plug-in prices are still to come
The Oct. 1 announcement covers only the gas Sorento, and Kia has not yet published 2027 prices for the Sorento Hybrid or Plug-in Hybrid, a gap Kelley Blue Book also noted. For reference, the 2026 Sorento Hybrid started at $38,890 for the EX with front-wheel drive, and the 2026 Plug-in Hybrid at $48,290 for the EX, both before the $1,495 destination charge. The hybrid has been the faster-growing version: Kia says Sorento Hybrid sales rose 112% in September from a year earlier.
Where the SUV is built can also matter to buyers who finance. Kia's list of U.S.-assembled models includes the gas Sorento, built from U.S. and globally sourced parts, but excludes the Sorento Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid. The IRS says the new federal deduction for car-loan interest applies to new vehicles assembled in the U.S., with an annual limit of $10,000 of interest.
Sales are climbing
The small increase comes during a record run for Kia. The brand sold 8,939 Sorentos in September, up 37% from a year earlier, and 77,205 in the first nine months of 2026, up 4.3% from 74,012. Kia's 236,659 third-quarter sales were its best for any quarter, and the company says 2026 Sorentos built after September 2025 carry an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating.
For shoppers, the math is simple. A 2027 gas Sorento costs $200 more than an essentially identical 2026 model, so a leftover 2026 Sorento discounted by more than that is the same SUV for less, unless the new green paint is the one you want.
