The ninth-generation Camry arrived for 2025 as a hybrid-only sedan, and the 2027 model keeps that formula. Toyota's full-line price list, updated October 2, 2026, shows the same five grades as before: LE, SE, Nightshade Edition, XLE and XSE, each offered with front- or all-wheel drive. The LE starts at $29,700 before Toyota's $1,295 delivery, processing and handling fee. That is $100 more than toyota.com lists for a 2026 LE, so the model-year change barely moves the sticker.
Toyota has not published a separate 2027 specification sheet, and the EPA had not posted 2027 Camry ratings when we checked. The powertrain and mileage figures below therefore come from Toyota's 2026 Camry release and the EPA's 2026 ratings, the most recent official numbers. NHTSA, on the other hand, has already rated the 2027 car.
Powertrain & Efficiency
Every Camry pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with Toyota's fifth-generation hybrid system. Front-drive cars make 225 net combined horsepower and all-wheel-drive cars make 232. There is no gas-only version and no plug-in, which keeps the decision simple: pick a trim, then pick a drivetrain.
Fuel economy is where the Camry earns its reputation. The EPA rates the 2026 LE with front-wheel drive at 52 mpg city, 49 highway and 51 combined, the best figures in the range. Front-drive SE, XLE and XSE models are rated 47/45/46 mpg. With all-wheel drive, the LE is rated 50 mpg combined, the SE and XLE 46, and the XSE 43.
Those gaps add up. At 15,000 miles a year, an LE at 51 mpg would burn about 294 gallons, while an XSE AWD at 43 mpg would burn about 349. Buyers in snow country lose very little by choosing the LE AWD, which gives up just 1 mpg combined to its front-drive twin and costs $1,525 more.
Interior & Technology
Toyota's multimedia system comes with an 8-inch touchscreen as standard, with a 12.3-inch screen available. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Qi wireless charging pad and five USB ports, three up front and two in the back, are standard across the lineup. The LE, SE and Nightshade Edition get a 7-inch digital gauge cluster; the XLE and XSE get a 12.3-inch cluster and offer a 10-inch head-up display and a nine-speaker JBL audio upgrade.
For 2026 the XLE and XSE gained an optional power tilt-and-slide panoramic roof with a retractable sunshade, a first for a Camry hybrid, and the SE, XLE and XSE added Dark Cosmos paint. The Nightshade Edition builds on the SE with Midnight Black Metallic exterior trim, gloss black badging and unique 19-inch wheels. The LE rides on 16-inch alloys and the XLE on 18s.
The 8-inch base screen is the one place the Camry feels built to a price. Every 2026 Accord has at least a 9-inch touchscreen, and the best Camry displays are reserved for the two most expensive grades.
Safety
NHTSA has rated the 2027 Camry, and the results are clean: five stars overall, five stars for frontal crash, five for side crash and five for rollover resistance, for both front- and all-wheel-drive cars. IIHS had not published a 2027 listing at press time, but it named the 2026 Camry a 2026 Top Safety Pick+, with Good ratings in the small overlap, updated moderate overlap and updated side tests and Good ratings for both vehicle-to-vehicle and pedestrian front crash prevention. The weak spot was headlights, rated Acceptable.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard. It includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams and Proactive Driving Assist. Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Safe Exit Alert are standard too. Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Alert and front and rear parking assist with automatic braking come in a Premium Plus Package offered on the XLE and XSE.
Pricing & Trims
The spread from LE to XSE is $6,400 with front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive adds the same $1,525 to every grade.

Our pick is the LE. It is the least expensive Camry and, on 2026 EPA figures, the most efficient by 5 mpg combined, yet it still has the full Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite, blind-spot monitoring, wireless smartphone mirroring and wireless charging. Buyers who want the 12.3-inch gauge cluster, the head-up display option or the panoramic roof need an XLE, which starts at $34,900.
Toyota's 2026 warranty runs 3 years/36,000 miles basic and 5 years/60,000 miles on the powertrain. Hybrid components are covered for 8 years/100,000 miles and the hybrid battery for 10 years/150,000 miles. ToyotaCare adds two years or 25,000 miles of scheduled maintenance.
Rivals
The Honda Accord is the obvious alternative. Its hybrid models start at $33,795 for the Sport, and the EX-L hybrid is EPA-rated at 48 mpg combined. The cheapest Accord is a 1.5-liter turbo LX at $28,395, rated 32 mpg combined. Every 2026 Accord listed by the EPA is front-wheel drive, so the Camry is the pick for buyers who want all-wheel drive. The Hyundai Sonata, another 2026 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ winner, is also worth a look.
How we rated it: this review is based on Toyota's specifications and October 2026 pricing, EPA estimates for the 2026 Camry, NHTSA's 2027 ratings and IIHS's 2026 results. Drive Edition has not road-tested this vehicle.
