BMW has revealed the gasoline versions of its eighth-generation 3 Series, and BMW of North America published U.S. prices on Sept. 29. The lineup starts at $49,900 for the rear-drive 330, plus $1,350 for destination and handling, and every launch model goes on sale in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2027.
The new car carries BMW's Neue Klasse design and digital hardware into its most important nameplate, which BMW says has sold more than 18 million units since 1975. The gas sedans share a badge, a cabin layout and software with the electric i3 50 xDrive, which BMW showed earlier this year and has now priced for the U.S. at $61,500.

The six-cylinder stays
The M350 xDrive is the gas flagship and the 3 Series' entry point to BMW M. Its 3.0-liter inline-six makes 437 hp and 428 lb-ft, up from 386 hp in the model it replaces, helped by new turbochargers and a starter-generator in the transmission housing that adds up to 17 hp. Standard equipment includes xDrive all-wheel drive, Adaptive M suspension, an M Sport differential and an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. BMW plans to add a rear-drive Drift Moment mode by software update in 2027.
The 330 and 330 xDrive use a 2.0-liter four with a belt-driven 48-volt starter-generator, rated at 255 hp and 295 lb-ft through an eight-speed automatic. All the gas engines run the Miller cycle and use switchable exhaust valves that BMW says cut engine drag torque by about 66 percent, letting the mild-hybrid system recover more energy.
The electric i3 shares the badge
The i3 50 xDrive uses BMW's sixth-generation eDrive system with 800-volt architecture and new cylindrical battery cells. Its two motors produce 463 hp and 476 lb-ft. BMW estimates 446 to 468 miles of range based on preliminary testing using EPA procedures, and says DC charging at up to 400 kW can add 191 to 208 miles in 10 minutes. An i3 M60 xDrive joins the lineup in 2027. The electric car is 187.4 inches long on a 114.1-inch wheelbase; the gas sedans measure 187.6 inches on a 112.6-inch wheelbase.
Same screens and software on every version
Every new 3 Series gets BMW Panoramic iDrive, which combines Panoramic Vision, a display projected across the full width of the lower windshield, a 17.9-inch central touchscreen, an available 3D head-up display and BMW Operating System X. Optional Highway Assist allows hands-free driving on limited-access highways at up to 85 mph while the driver keeps watching the road. Wheels range from 19 to 21 inches.
"The result is the best BMW 3 Series of all time." — Joachim Post, BMW AG board member responsible for development
Production of the i3 began at BMW's Munich plant in August 2026, while the gas models are built at Dingolfing, Germany, starting in November. BMW executives refer to plug-in hybrid 3 Series models in the launch materials, but none is part of the announced U.S. lineup. For buyers, the decision now comes down to price and use: the i3 costs $11,600 more than the 330 and $4,400 less than the M350 xDrive while offering more power than either gas car.
