BMW Motorrad USA has unveiled the 2027 BMW F 450 RR, a lightweight supersport motorcycle designed as an accessible entry into BMW's RR lineup. Powered by a newly tuned 420 cc parallel-twin engine producing 48 hp and 32 lb.-ft. of torque, the F 450 RR combines engaging performance with premium features and innovative technology. The M Sport variant, featuring the optional Easy Ride Clutch and advanced riding modes, will launch in the U.S. market in summer 2027 with an MSRP starting at $7,815 plus destination.

Engine and Performance Highlights

The heart of the F 450 RR is a 420 cc parallel-twin engine with a unique 135-degree crankpin offset, delivering a distinctive sound and smooth power delivery. It produces 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 32 lb.-ft. of torque at 6,750 rpm, with 80 percent of torque available as low as 3,000 rpm for strong roll-on performance. The engine features a balance shaft for reduced vibration, a wet-sump lubrication system, and a stainless-steel under-belly exhaust with two catalytic converters that also contributes to the bike’s aggressive sound and optimized weight.

The six-speed transmission includes the Shift Assistant Pro system for clutchless upshifts and downshifts, enhancing riding dynamics and comfort. Riders can also switch to a reversible shift pattern for a racing-style gear setup. The optional Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) on the M Sport variant allows clutchless starts and smoother operation, especially useful in stop-and-go traffic or twisty roads.

Chassis, Suspension, and Safety Features

The F 450 RR rides on a tubular steel space-frame chassis designed for rigidity and precise handling. The geometry is tuned for supersport agility with a 55.3-inch wheelbase, 23.4-degree steering head angle, and 4.3-inch trail. Suspension components include an upside-down telescopic front fork with rebound and compression adjustment, and a rear aluminum hollow-cast double-sided swingarm with central spring shock adjustable for preload and rebound damping.

Braking is handled by a Brembo / ByBre system paired with BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, which ensures safe braking even when leaning. The bike comes standard with multiple riding modes—Rain, Road, and Race—integrated with Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and engine drag torque control (MSR). The M Sport variant adds Riding Modes Pro, including an individually configurable Race Pro mode.
