Ford revealed the 2027 F-150 on Sept. 15 with a new standard engine, hands-free highway driving while towing, restyled grilles and wheels, cheaper entry versions of the Tremor and Raptor, and the first F-150 Carhartt. Ford notes that the F-Series has been America's best-selling truck line for 49 years, based on 1977-2025 industry sales.

A new base V6, and V8s on every trim level

The 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 replaces the 2.7-liter EcoBoost as standard equipment. Ford's spec sheet rates it at 325 hp at 5,500 rpm and 400 lb-ft at 2,250 rpm. Ford says the two engines share a core architecture and the same peak capability, but the 3.0-liter delivers roughly 10 to 11 percent more torque in the rev range used in everyday driving. Properly equipped, it tows up to 8,400 pounds and carries up to 1,755 pounds of payload in a regular-cab 4x2 with the 6.5-foot box.

The 400-hp 5.0-liter V8 returns to the King Ranch and Platinum for the first time since 2023, which makes a V8 available on every F-150 trim from XL to Platinum.

BlueCruise learns to tow

The bigger news for many owners is BlueCruise with Towing, which debuts on the 2027 F-150. It allows hands-free, eyes-on-the-road driving on more than 130,000 miles of pre-qualified divided highways while pulling a trailer, with a maximum of 10,000 pounds when the truck has the Tow/Haul Package and optional Max Tow Axle. Ford says 76 percent of F-150 owners tow. Drivers must create a trailer profile first, speed is capped at 75 mph, and hands-free lane changes and in-lane repositioning are disabled while towing. The system monitors trailer sway and will slow down or hand control back to the driver if sway persists. Ford says it validated the feature over thousands of miles of U.S. roads and in its Dynamic Driving Simulator, testing dozens of truck-and-trailer combinations.

Every BlueCruise-equipped 2027 F-150, from XLT and Tremor through Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum, gets the towing function. Owners with an active BlueCruise plan or trial do not pay extra for it.

Cheaper off-roaders and a Carhartt edition

New entry-level Tremor and Raptor versions keep the off-road hardware but drop comfort features. The base Tremor is STX-based, with manual air conditioning, no heated front seats, six speakers and fixed rear glass. The entry Raptor loses the head-up display, fog lamps, power passenger seat and 2-kW Pro Power Onboard, and steps down to an eight-speaker stereo.

The F-150 Carhartt is based on the 4x4 XLT crew cab and adds 20-inch wheels, fender vents, a cowl hood, dual exhaust, off-road running boards, a Carhartt-branded spray-in bedliner and two-tone seat covers. The package costs $4,195, and the truck starts at $62,660 plus destination. Orders opened Sept. 15, with availability in early 2027.

The F-150 is assembled at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan and Kansas City Assembly Plant. Ford has not published base prices for the rest of the 2027 lineup.
