Ford Motor Company is recalling 30,123 vehicles including certain 2026-2027 F-150 models and 2026 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, and F-450 SD trucks. The recall addresses a problem with the left-side tailgate cable which may fail under heavy load conditions.

If the tailgate cable fails, the tailgate could drop onto the rear bumper, posing an increased risk of injury to vehicle occupants or bystanders.

Recall Details and Remedy

Ford dealers will replace the left-side tailgate cable at no cost to owners. Interim letters informing owners of the safety risk will be mailed starting December 14, 2026. The official repair will begin once the remedy parts are available, anticipated in January 2027.
