Kia America achieved its best September and best quarterly sales totals in company history in 2026, selling 77,009 units in September alone, an 18% increase year-over-year. The third quarter saw total sales reach 236,659 units, up 8% from the previous record quarter. Retail sales also hit new highs with 70,429 units in September and 221,664 units for the quarter, marking 19% and 9% growth respectively.

The surge in sales was fueled in part by strong demand for Kia’s hybrid and electrified vehicles, which posted record increases of 152% in September and 60% for the quarter compared to last year. This highlights growing consumer interest in Kia’s expanding lineup of electrified models.

What it means for you

These include the Telluride (+42%), Seltos (+66%), Sportage (+10%), Carnival (+21%), Sorento (+37%), Niro (+47%), K5 (+15%), and K4 (+43%). For buyers, this means a wide selection of popular and well-regarded vehicles with strong market momentum.

Hybrid models are a standout, led by the all-new Telluride HEV and strong gains from the Sorento HEV (+112%), Sportage HEV (+53%), and Carnival HEV (+47%). If you’re considering a hybrid SUV or minivan, Kia’s lineup offers competitive options that are resonating with buyers.

Safety and awards highlight Kia’s lineup

Kia’s commitment to safety is underscored by the 2027 Telluride earning the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s top 2026 TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating. Alongside the Sorento, Sportage, and other models, Kia now has five vehicles with this highest safety designation.

Additionally, the 2027 all-electric Kia EV3 was named Green Car of the Year by Green Car Journal, while the 2026 Carnival Hybrid earned Green Minivan of the Year honors. These accolades reinforce Kia’s leadership in sustainability and electrification.
