Volvo Car USA, LLC is recalling 9,930 vehicles, including certain 2025-2026 EX30 and 2026 EX30cc models, due to a safety issue involving the front head restraints. The head restraint cushion in these vehicles may detach during a crash, which could increase the risk of injury to occupants.

The problem centers on the attachment of the head restraint cushion. If it detaches in a collision, it may fail to provide the necessary support to reduce whiplash or other injuries to the head and neck.

Risk and Safety Concerns

A detached head restraint cushion compromises occupant safety by potentially increasing injury risk during a crash. While there is no directive to avoid driving these vehicles, owners should be aware of this issue and monitor any recall communications.

Recall Remedy and Owner Notification

Volvo dealers will apply an adhesive to reinforce the head cushion attachment at no cost to owners. This repair ensures that the head restraint cushions remain securely attached during a collision, restoring the intended protection.

Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed starting November 30, 2026. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall are searchable on NHTSA’s website as of October 9, 2026, allowing owners to confirm if their vehicle is affected.
